"It was a kiddie Woodstock at Southpaw last Sunday for the record-release party for the Park Slope Parents music CD. While the album features Dan Zanes, David Weinstone and AudraRox, the crowd (of 6 year olds) went nuts for Suzi Shelton ("Miss Suzi" to kids at PS 107) singing "Road Trip!"

"Suzi Shelton produces music with lyrics that are funny or have meaning on many levels - for kids and for their parents, like the best "children's" programming (such as Sesame Street or The Muppets). The Music is best for participation. The songs on this album show range, are entertaining for kids, and can pull at the emotions of parents (and make them laugh). You should buy the whole album, but "So Long Chocolate Cake, " "One Day on the Porch," and "Can you Imagine?" are particularly noteworthy original songs. (I have a soft spot for "Just the right size.") Suzi is even better live with the full band, where she has great rapport with the kids and they really get involved, and the instrumental quality rises to the level expected by adults out at music clubs at night. The music has more of an edge with the live kids jumping and dancing and laughing. "Time To Say Hello" and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight (Wake Up Lions!)" are great concert bookends that don't reproduce as well to a studio album (they're still quite good and participatory, especially the twist on "The Lion Sleeps Tonight"). I'm looking forward to the upcoming live DVD!"

"Rock 'N' Roll Preschoolers, Kids Rocker Suzi Shelton now goes solo with her new CD, Simply Suzi. Kids and their families can hear her angelic voice as she entertains the audience with a musical menagerie of tunes that depict a world of sleeping lions, juicy jellyfish, and slithering snakes."

"Sweet-voiced vocals and gentle acoustic guitar express kid concerns with sympathy. Shelton's originals blend easily alongside covers like a well-harmonized 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight.'"

"Designed for the playground set, Shelton has been a stand out among the current crop of kid-friendly musical performers."

"Suzi's sweet voice and playful songs are a wonderful addition to our household... Cranky meals no more! We turn on Suzi's CD at breakfast or lunch and everyone mellows out and groves out. My two year old son LOVES to clap and stomp on command and my daugther listens carefully to hear all the lyrics, and then sings along. This is a great time in a box!"
